Special Edition [NEW]

Craft: Pablo Picasso. Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler 1910. This patinting was completed by the artist using oil paint on a canvas. At first I was drawn to his piece because of the overall grayish color of the painting. But as I got closer to it I was able to make out some sore of person in the painting. What inspired me about this piece is that the subject had over 30 sitting in order for Picasso to get his image just right, interesting?

Composition: Obviously the arrangement of elements is key in this type of modern painting. The whole piece is made up of hundreds of different shimmering semitransparent planes all set on top of each other in order for the portrait of Kahnweiler to be seen.

Concept: The concept of this painting is basic Picasso from the modern era of painting. Picasso was the one to make abstract shapes into portraits of individuals. This style of painting was completely different from anything before. Picasso was the one who was able to put body parts, such as; ears, noses, mouths, etc. in the wrong places and get away with it by calling it abstract.
